BIG SWELL ON THE WAY FOR RIP CURL PRO

News provided by ASP World Tour on 17 April 2006

Organisers of the Rip Curl Pro Surf and Music Festival have once again decided to postpone the main event due to the swell being miniscule today at Bells Beach, Australia.

But with a new and large swell expected to arrive over the next few days, organisers are confident that proceedings will resume in excellent quality conditions.

"Wednesday should herald a fresh round of westerly swell in the one to two metre range during the morning (probably closer towards lunchtime)," said Ben Matson from swellnet.com.au "Thursday is the day as far as size is concerned, and winds are still looking favourable from the west/north west."

With only one full day needed to complete the event and with the waiting period extending until April 22, the event can afford to be delayed to take advantage of only the best waves on offer.

Looking at the upcoming draw for round four there are six Australians, one Brazilian, three Hawaiians, three from mainland USA and one South African locked into round four.

There are two more heats still to be run in round three of the event, which is the second on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour.

Organisers will reconvene tomorrow at 7am (local time) to assess conditions.

In the meantime why not jump on line to www.aspworldtour.com and www.ripcurl.com/ripcurlpro to view all the video highlights and stats packages.
