LAY DAY CALLED FOR RIP CURL PRO SURF AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
News provided by ASP World Tour on 11 April 2006
With Bells Beach looking like a millpond today, organisers of the Rip Curl Pro Surf and Music festival have called a lay day for day one of the main event waiting period which extends until April 21.
Contest Director and two-time Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour champion, Damien Hardman is confident however that the swell will increase for tomorrow.
“The forecast is promising for tomorrow,” said Hardman. “But the best swell will arrive later in the week. We should see some great waves for the upcoming Easter weekend.”
The Rip Curl Pro is in its 34th year and is the longest running event in Australia.
The event features the top 45 ranked surfers on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour plus three wildcards.
Organisers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7am to assess conditions.
