RIP CURL SEARCH WCT ON HOLD FOR REMAINDER OF DAY
News provided by ASP World Tour on 30 June 2005
After reviewing conditions at both 10am and 12pm local time, the organisers of the Rip Curl Search WCT event being held at St Leu, Reunion Island have put the event on hold for the rest of the day.
With blustering winds and a dribbling swell the scenario of running the final rounds was a less than inviting prospect for the eight surfers remaining in the event.
With a predicted swell forecast to arrive within the next 24 hours conditions will be reviewed at 7am tomorrow local time.
With eight surfers remaining, six are Australian with one Brazilian and one American. The draw consists of: Danny Wills (AUS) versus Jake Paterson (AUS); Mick Fanning (AUS) versus Darren O’Rafferty (AUS); Peterson Rosa (AUS) versus Cory Lopez (USA) and; Phil Macdonald (AUS) versus Nathan Hedge (AUS).
