OFFICIAL LAY-DAY FOR RIP CURL SEARCH WCT EVENT
News provided by ASP World Tour on 28 June 2005
9.00am (GMT + 4 hours) Tuesday, June 28, 2005
Contest organisers have called an official lay day at the Rip Curl Search WCT as surfers wait for a new swell predicted to arrive over the next few days.
A number of the Foster’s Men’s World Tour were in the line up early this morning testing the 1 meter (2-3 foot) surf at the picturesque Saint Leu left hander.
Despite the odd larger set wave, the excitement of a new swell forecasted for this Thursday had all agreeing that it is better to wait and run the finals in the best Saint Leu waves possible. Today is day six of the Rip Curl Search WCT’s 12 day waiting period.
The door is open for the remaining Quarter Final surfers to push their World Title campaigns after a day of upsets yesterday saw the top three ranked surfers (Kelly Slater, Trent Munro, Andy Irons) eliminated from the event.
Quarter Final Match Ups
H1: Daniel Wills (AUS) v Jake Paterson (AUS)
H2: Mick Fanning (AUS) v Darren O’Rafferty (AUS)
H3: Peterson Rosa (BRA) v Cory Lopez (USA)
H4: Phillip Macdonald (AUS) v Nathan Hedge (AUS)
Next call 9.00am Wednesday June 29.
