RIP CURL SEARCH WCT AWAITS NEW SWELL

News provided by ASP World Tour on 30 June 2005

As the run of small waves continues in St Leu, Reunion Island, the Rip Curl Search WCT has been put on hold yet again.

But with a large swell expected within the next 24 hours the conditions will be reviewed at 10am local time with the potential to run the remaining heats.

The event, the fifth on the Fosters ASP Men’s Tour has only the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final to run and will only take approximately four hours to complete.

Organisers are holding out for premium conditions like those that graced the event in earlier rounds.

With eight surfers remaining six are Australian with one Brazilian and one American. The draw consists of: Danny Wills (AUS) versus Jake Paterson (AUS); Mick Fanning (AUS) versus Darren O’Rafferty (AUS); Peterson Rosa (AUS) versus Cory Lopez (USA) and; Phil Macdonald (AUS) versus Nathan Hedge (AUS).
