GLOBE WCT FIJI SET TO RESTART AT 12 MIDDAY TODAY
News provided by ASP World Tour on 29 May 2006
The troops on Tavarua and Namotu Islands in Fiji are assembling this morning in readiness for a 12 midday (local time) restart to the fourth event on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour – The Globe WCT Fiji.
Organisers are looking to complete at least the eight heats of round four today as swell conditions will increase throughout the day and will provide 1.5 to two metre (four to six feet) waves by early this afternoon.
Already the amazingly perfect wave of Cloudbreak has awoken from its four day slumber this morning, and competitors have taken boat rides out to the break to enjoy some great fun waves and warm up for today’s extravaganza.
Previously in the event the guys have raised the performance bar again pulling off some incredible tube riding as well as executing some of the best manoeuvres seen on tour so far this year.
Round four heat draw:
Heat 1: Troy Brooks (AUS) versus Tom Whitaker (AUS)
Heat 2: Darren O’Rafferty (AUS) versus Damien Hobgood (USA)
Heat 3: Tim Reyes (USA) versus Nathan Hedge (AUS)
Heat 4: Trent Munro (AUS) versus Andy Irons (HAW)
Heat 5: Bobby Martinez (USA) versus Danny Wills (AUS)
Heat 6: Mick Fanning (AUS) versus CJ Hobgood (USA)
Heat 7: Taj Burrow (AUS) versus Luke Stedman (AUS)
Heat 8: Bede Durbidge (AUS) versus Shaun Cansdell (AUS)
