QUIKSILVER PRO JAPAN ROUND THREE UNDERWAY IN EXCELLENT CONDITIONS
News provided by ASP World Tour on 4 September 2005
Organisers of the Quiksilver Pro Japan have again opted to move the event from its home base of Hebara Beach to the site of yesterday’s competition, Malibu.
Taking advantage of the excellent two metre (six foot) swells pulsing into the area due to Super Typhoon Nabi off the south coast of Japan, round three is in the water as we speak with Mick Fanning (AUS) taking on Shane Beschen (USA).
Other interesting matchups of the day include CJ Hobgood (USA) and Toby Martin in heat four (AUS), Kelly Slater (USA) versus Masato Watanabe (JAP) in heat eight, Andy Irons (HAW) versus Dane Reynolds (USA) in heat nine, Nathan Hedge (AUS) versus Sunny Garcia (HAW) in heat 11 and Dean Morrison (AUS) versus Bede Durbidge (AUS) in heat 16.
Organisers are hopeful on completing all of round three today leaving potentially only one full day of competition to run.
The full heat draw for round three is available on the websites as listed above and below.
