BILLABONG PRO TAHITI TO BE RUN AND WON TODAY

News provided by ASP World Tour on 13 May 2006

There’s a serious buzz amongst the crew on the point at Teahupoo this morning as the word has come down from contest director Luke Egan that the Billabong Pro Tahiti will be wrapped up today.

With a 1.5 to two metre swell pushing over the shallow reef break, the first of the quarter final heats will hit the water at around 8.30am local time.

There are three Hawaiians, three from mainland USA, one Australian and one local left in the ring to battle it out.

Can Kelly Slater (AUS) follow Mel Redman-Carr’s (AUS) lead from yesterday (she won the Billabong Pro Tahiti ladies event) and win three tour events on the trot?

Can the local wildcard Hira Terinatoofa beat the fist of big names from the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour?

By around lunch time today all will be revealed.

The draw for this morning will include:

Quarter final 1: Fredrick Patacchia (HAW) versus Hira Teriinatoofa (PYF)
Quarter final 2: Bruce Irons (HAW) versus Kelly Slater (USA)
Quarter final 3:Dean Morrison (AUS) versus Taylor Knox (USA)
Quarter final 4: Danny Fuller (HAW) versus Bobby Martinez (USA)
