BILLABONG PRO ROUND TWO UNDERWAY AT PERFECT TEAHUPOO

News provided by ASP World Tour on 10 May 2006

Round two of the Billabong Pro Tahiti is about to get underway in epic conditions at Teahupoo.

The swell, which has become more consistent and slightly bigger over night is hitting the famed break at the perfect angle, producing some amazingly hollow waves.

Surfers are excited about heading into the lineup today and with some of the biggest names of the sport being relegated to round two after suffering upsets at the hands of wildcards and surfers who appear further down the rankings yesterday.

“It’s perfect out there,” said a beaming Luke Stedman (AUS) after surfing an early session. “We’re going to see so much good surfing today. It’s a perfect size and direction for this break to really fire.”

Round two will kick off at 7.30am local time. The first heat of the day will consist of three-time Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour champion Andy Irons (HAW) up against local hot shot Kevin Johnson.
