QUIKSILVER PRO MOVES TO SCORE CLEANER CONDITIONS

News provided by ASP World Tour on 2 March 2006

Organisers of the Quiksilver Pro presented by Samsung have opted to send out heat one of round two this morning at 8am but have shifted the event about 300 metres down the break toward Greenmount Point to take advantage of cleaner conditions.

With an increase in swell seeing a lot of waves washing through the outside section of the break, it was a logical decision to move to where the waves are best.

Swell forecaster Ben Matson from www.swellnet.com indicated that the swell could rise further throughout the day and said that winds could become menacing toward the afternoon. This was also a factor in influencing the decision to move.

“Wave heights are expected to kick up rapidly from the east in the afternoon towards a sustained peak over Friday and early Saturday,” said Ben in his daily report. “This swell will be accompanied by very strong south east winds at times.”

First heat of the day will be that of Phil Macdonald (AUS) and Jeremy Flores (REU) and that will be followed by Taj Burrow (AUS) versus Ben Dunn (AUS).

All the action will be webcast live from www.quiksilver.com or www.aspworldtour.com
