LAY DAY CALLED FOR BOOST MOBILE PRO PRESENTED BY HURLEY

News provided by ASP World Tour on 10 September 2007

LOWER TRESTLES, California (Monday, September 10, 2007) – Event organizers at the Boost Mobile Pro presented by Hurley have called a lay day today in hopes that this week will offer bigger waves than the one-to-two foot (0.5 metre) surf on offer this morning.

“We’ve called for a lay day today because the remnants of the South swell have dissipated and we’re only left with small wind swell,” Event Director Mike Parsons said. “In addition to the small surf, the wind is projected to pick up this afternoon so we are looking to the next few days to hopefully get some modest pulses out of the South. We’ll check back again at 7:30am.”

Despite the seven-day waiting period, the Boost Mobile Pro is only allotted five full days to compete. Once the decision to run has been made, the event must run a full day to complete the event in the allotted time.

The small conditions at Lower Trestles this morning have earned those surfers extra opportunity to prepare for their elimination round heats against formidable wildcards Sunny Garcia (HAW), Dane Reynolds (USA) and Jordy Smith (ZAF).

The Boost Mobile Pro waiting period stretches to Saturday, Sept. 15 with a call on competition status made each morning on ‘The Dawn Patrol,’ a TV quality production being webcast LIVE on www.boostmobilepro.com at 7:30am local time.

Another call on Round 2 competition status will be made tomorrow morning. For more information on Round 1 visit the photo and video galleries on www.boostmobilpro.com as well as the media center on www.aspworldtour.com.
