BOOST MOBILE PRO CHAMPION CROWNED TODAY - ROUND 4 STARTS AT 8AM
News provided by ASP World Tour on 15 September 2007
LOWER TRESTLES, California (Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007) – The projected South swell has arrived with three-to-four foot (1 metre) sets rolling through at Lower Trestles and the 2007 Boost Mobile Pro presented by Hurley will crown its champion today.
Stop No. 6 of 10 on the Foster’s ASP World Tour, the Boost Mobile Pro will begin at 8am with the opening heat of Round 4.
“We’ve got some really nice, clean three-to-four foot South swell this morning and we’ll be starting things off with Round 4 at 8am,” Event Director Mike Parsons said. “It’s still a touch inconsistent, but the swell is projected to continue filling in today and we will be running all the way through the finals today. We’ve got some great match-ups and we’re expecting a great day of surfing.”
With 9 of the current ASP top-10 already eliminated from Boost Mobile Pro, reigning and eight-time Foster’s ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) stands to gain some major ground in the hunt for the 2007 Foster’s ASP World Title, should he get a good result today.
Standing in his way will 16 other world-class surfers, including local San Clemente surfer Chris Ward (USA), ’07 ASP World Tour rookies Jeremy Flores (FRA), Josh Kerr (AUS) and Ben Dunn (AUS), dangerous wildcards Jordy Smith (ZAF) and Dane Reynolds (USA), among others.
A pre-event show, ‘The Dawn Patrol’, will be webcast LIVE on www.boostmobile.com starting at 7:30am and will feature highlights and analysis from our expert commentators.
