Sour grapes - 05 May 2009
sounds like you wish you did it first mr yawn. You complaining that somebody DOESN'T butcher the retail price and try to under cut our local surf store owners? The ones that helped build this industry? Don't you think if they wanted to sell direct they would as does Quiksilver and Hurley? Hat's off to those guys, looks to me like a good site with a killer spread of brands, hardware too unlike the mall rag traders..::.. PS I thought you aussies looked out for each other, must be sour grape..::..

Cartel backed... *yawn* - 12 Mar 2009
Sorry... but Surfstitch.com is just a storefront for Billabong and Ripcurl, and their sub labels ( like Creatures of Leisure, Von Zipper etc. ) The prices are indentical to what you'll find in large Australian chain stores... no surprises... because Ripabong didn't want to upset those lucrative, long standing customers with this venture. Even all the "buy now" button on those label's websites lead straight to surfstitch.com.... if this isn't the most blatant indication of anti-competetiveness than I don't know what is! They have worked hard to make sure you don't try and buy their gear from anyone else... makes you wonder what they're afraid of, doesn't it? Heaven forbid that an online competitor might come along and offer the same items from Rip Curl and Billabong at a DISCOUNT! Still... no chance of that... they've made certain that surfstitch.com maintains what could only be described at best as an "unfair advantage", at worst, a cynical monopoly. So ask yourself... does someone that treats you, the consumer, with such contempt really deserve you hard earned dollar? If you're wise, you'll shop elsewhere. :)
