Team USA Update #3 From Peru

The Under 16 Boys opened the day on the Senoritas podium. And, while none of them won their heats, Taylor Clark and Parker Coffin finished in second and advanced to Qualifying Round Three while Colin Moran and Kanoa Igarashi both finished third and are now into the Repercharge.
In the Qualifying Round Two of the Girls division, also on the Senoritas podium, Kulia Doherty and Lakey Peterson both continued an undefeated march toward the medals. Quincy Davis finished second to Australian Nikki Van Dijk, and advanced to Round Three; and Team USA’s Nikki Viesins suffered the misfortune of losing a fin during her heat, and finishing fourth.
“Although we had a couple of tough breaks today, we’re still in good shape,” said Ian Cairns, Head Coach of the PacSun USA Surf Team. “The heat is coming, however, as the field tightens. But we’re up for the challenge.”
The 2011 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships will run through May 29th. Surfers from 27 nations are competing for medals in the largest field of competitors ever at an ISA Juniors event.
