Roxy Pro Competition Back ON, ASP Top 17 and ASP WLT Top 32 in Motion in Biarritz

BIARRITZ – France (Thursday, July 14, 2011) – Nice weather and clean two-to-three foot waves are on offer this morning in Biarritz, and the Roxy Pro is back ON running simultaneously at two different locations, the Roxy Pro Longboard event kicking-off at la Cote des Basques while the ASP Elite Top 17 are tearing apart La Grande Plage.
« We have consistent clean waves this morning at both venues and all event staff has been spread over the two different event sites, » Roxy Pro contest director Charley Puyo said. « We will be running as many heats as possible if the conditions remain as good, for both the ASP Women’s World title event and the ASP Women’s World Longboard Tour contest. »
Three heats remain before Round 1 is completed, and things will go straight into Round 2 and continue all day. The ASP Women’s World title is on the line for current World No. 1 Carissa Moore (HAW) who will be surfing Round 2 this morning.
The Roxy Pro could see the ASP Women’s World title crowning this week as Carissa Moore (HAW) and Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) are the only two remaining contenders. The possibilities are as follows : - If Moore wins the event in France, she clinches the ASP Women’s World Title - If Moore places 2nd or 3rd in France, Fitzgibbons must win to keep world title hopes - If Moore places 5th in France, Fitzgibbons needs to place 2nd or win - If Moore places 9th in France, the ASP Women’s World title race goes to the US Open, this year’s final event
