DEE WHY, New South Wales/Australia (Friday, May 6, 2011) – The ASP Commonwealth Beachley Classic has been called ON in contestable one-meter surf at Dee Why Point in Sydney this morning, with the event’s top eight performers taking to the water in the Quarterfinals while the remaining rounds will be on standby.
“We’re seeing very consistent one-meter waves on the Dee Why beachy this morning so we’ve decided to kick things off with the quarterfinals,” Contesest Director and 7X ASP World Champion Layne Beachley, said. “We will keep a close eye on conditions over the next two hours with the possibility of running the semifinals and finals later today.”
Surfing will commence at 8.00am starting with the quarterfinals and the semifinals and finals will be on standby.
The first heat of the day will see a South American battle between Silvana Lima (BRA) and Sofia Mulanovich (PER) in heat one.
