How To Rip Longer And Get Skinny At The Same Time
oakley unveiled their new line of board shorts, “Blade” last night at The Shore restaurant in San Clemente. The new trunks reflect the oakley motto of “technology wrapped in art” as they are seriously space age, yet something you’d still want to be seen in. In a packed private room, happy, bronzed people ate complimentary fish tacos, poke, sipped white wine and Blue Moons, and tried to wrap their heads around the beginning of oakley’s “board short revolution.”

Jeff Baillargeon, Global Category Manager at oakley broke down the science of the shorts. “The trunks come in two parts: the compression lining and the outer short, the two button together so you can opt out of the compression liner if you so wish.” But why would you? As Baillargeon explains, “When you’re being active your muscles fill with lactic acid, but with compression you get better blood circulation which carries away the lactic acid. This drastically prolongs the time you can be out in the water.”

Note to readers: Don’t worry, we had to ask what lactic acid is too. “The greatest thing about the compression liner is how tangible it is. You can feel it working,” adds Baillargeon. Kauai pro surfer and oakley team rider Sebastian Zietz pointed out another benefit of the compression liner: “Every time I come out of the water I peel the liner off and I’m cellulite free!”—Cheyenne Arnold
