NOVA SCHIN FESTIVAL TO GO MOBILE FOR ROUND ONE TODAY

News provided by ASP World Tour on 1 November 2005

With small windblown conditions greeting organisers of the Nova Schin Festival presented by Billabong at Joaquina, Florianopolis, Brazil, a decision has been made to move the event two hours south to a break called Imbituba, the location where the event was completed last year.

Reports from Imbituba indicate waves of one metre plus (three feet plus) with a light off shore wind blowing. Round one of the 10th event on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour will get underway at 9.30am local time in the “fun” left handers available.

“It makes sense that we move,” said Contest Director Xandi Fontes. “The waves here at Joaquina will be better later in the week and if we can get round one over and done with today it will leave us a better window for the business end of the event.”

Looking ahead, forecasts indicate that potentially excellent conditions will arrive around Thursday and Friday with a swell of up to two metres (six feet). It will also be coming from the perfect direction for the home base of Joaquina.

This augers well for another incredible event and will provide a spectacle for the throngs of spectators on hand who have come to witness the potential showdown between Kelly Slater (USA) and Andy Irons (HAW) for the 2005 Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour crown.

Another late withdrawal from Kalani Robb (HAW) has seen the draw change yet again. See www.aspworldtour.com or www.billabong.com for the new draw plus stay tuned for all the action on the live webcast.
