BOARDS & WAVES EXPO selects Daytona Beach, FL to host JULY 12 & 13, 2008 consumer surf event

Jacksonville Beach, FL----May 16, 2008----Global Wave Ventures announced today that Daytona Beach, FL is the selected location for the first annual Boards & Waves Expo on July 12 and 13, 2008. The two-day event will be held at the newly-remodeled Daytona Beach Resort & Conference Center on the beach.
Shaping demos, surfboard painting & art by Drew Brophy, the Young Guns of Foam featuring today's up-and-coming shapers, seminars with top shapers and Surfline's Mike Watson, StandUpPaddle demonstrations, beach- and ocean-inspired artwork, free product giveaways including surfboards, and more will highlight this two day event open to the public. The Boards & Waves Expo will allow consumers the unique opportunity to talk face-to-face with over 70 of the industry's top shapers, fin designers, foam & accessory manufacturers, local surf retailers, pro & amateur surfers, and more in a fun, friendly, and informative environment. Some of the key exhibitors to date include Rusty Surfboards, Lost Surfboards, Firewire Surfboards, Ricky Carroll Surfboards, Viking Surfboards, FCS, Madden Surfboards, Ice9 Foamworks, Rainbow Fins, and more.
This unique exposition designed for male & female surfers of all ages will be produced by Dave Seehafer, Vice President of Global Wave Ventures, an avid surfer who also consults to the action sports industry. "With today's diversity AND complexity of boards, foam, & fins, the consumer needs more information before he/she buys a new surfboard. The Boards & Waves Expo will allow consumers the opportunity to be educated by the industry's top shapers, fin designers, foam manufacturers, and more" said Seehafer. "As a 26 year veteran of the action sports industry, I'm stoked to bring this type of event to the East Coast, while helping to promote the retail sales of surfboards and accessories."
With ads in Eastern Surf Mag, SurfGuru.com, Surfline.com, EasternSurf.com, support from the Daytona Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with local & regional TV, radio, and print, the Expo will be getting lots of exposure. Admission is $5.00 daily; a portion of the proceeds will benefit the local Surfrider Foundation chapters.
