News provided by ASP World Tour on 20 July 2007

JEFFREYS BAY, South Africa (Friday, July 20, 2007) –The Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay, the 5th event of 10 on the Foster’s ASP World Tour will not run today. There are two days left in the event waiting period and forecasts indicate that competition could wrap up tomorrow.

California’s Taylor Knox (USA) will face 1999 Billabong Pro Jeffreys Bay Champion Joel Parkinson (AUS) in the first heat of Round 4.

“Me versus Parko is a pretty good match up, because he is one of the best surfers out here,” Knox said. “Really though it is just about me going out and having a fun and surfing. I’m not in control over what he does and he doesn’t have any control over what I do, so hopefully it will be just a good surf off.”

Knox, and the majority of surfers still in contention for the Billabong Pro JBay crown, share contest director Mike Parsons’ sentiments about the swell at Supertubes.

“I think they are making a good decision by waiting, getting us some surf out there,” Knox said. “I guess Mike made a great decision yesterday afternoon because it turned out to be pretty bad. Hopefully before dark, we see some good swell lines coming in. I think it is looking pretty good though. It looks to me like it is going to be a good five foot and really good direction. I think we had too much west in the last couple of swells, and we haven’t really had a straight south yet and that is what these waves need.”

Another call on competition status will be made tomorrow at 7am local time.
