LAY DAY IN PARADISE FOR GIRLS COMPETING IN BILLABONG GIRLS PRO ITACARE
News provided by ASP World Tour on 21 August 2007
PRAIA DA TIRIRICA, Brazil (Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007) – A drop in swell to just 1-meter (3-foot) has forced organizers of the Billabong Girls Pro Itacaré, Brazil to put the event on hold, on Day 2 of the competition.
After an explosive day of surfing during Round 1 on Monday, which saw ASP ratings leader Chelsea Hedges (AUS) string together a pair of near perfect 9.00 point rides(out of a possible ten points), the World’s Top 17 Women will use the day off to explore the picturesque town of Itacaré.
With an increase in swell expected tomorrow, the event could see the first of the elimination rounds underway, starting with Round 2.
The next call will be made at 09h00 tomorrow (Wednesday Aug. 22, 2007).
Round Two match-ups are as follows: Heat 1: Sofia Mulanovich (PER, Roseanne Hodge (ZAF), Jessi Nicola Atherton (AUS); Heat 2: Rochelle Ballard (HAW), Miley Dyer (AUS), Claire Bevilacqua (AUS).
