COMPETITION RESUMES AT BILLABONG GIRLS PRO ITACARE
News provided by ASP World Tour on 24 August 2007
PRAIA DA TIRIRICA, Brazil (Friday, Aug. 24, 2007) – The fresh onshore breeze that plagued Day 4 of the Billabong Girls Pro Itacaré yesterday, has given way to clear, calm conditions which will see Round 2 take to the water at 08h00 (local time).
After a three day wait, the World’s Top 17 Women will be eager to return to competition at this, the third of seven stops on the ASP Women’s World Tour.
The first heat in the water sees former ASP World Champion Sofia Mulanovich (PER) take on ASP World Tour rookie Roseanne Hodge (ZAF) and wildcard surfer Nicola Atherton (AUS); followed by Rochelle Ballard (HAW) up against last year’s Billabong Girls Pro runner-up Jessi Miley Dyer (AUS) and Claire Bevilacqua (AUS) in Heat 2.
With conditions expected to improve throughout the day, organizers are hoping to complete both Round 2 and Round 3 this morning, with a possibility of running the Quarterfinals this afternoon.
